Fietsfiesta - Cycling for charity

Hey there and welcome to our page! We are Guillermo and Dennis, two friends from Spain and Germany. This August we plan to do a bike trip through multiple countries in Europe. Follow us on our adventure!

Connecting our hometowns by bike in three weeks

So why are we doing this? First of all, the two of us are eager to have some kind of an athletic challenge to see where our limits actually are. We practiced a lot in the last months to get ready for this adventure, and we feel prepared!

We both think that cycling is an amazing mode of travelling since it's possible to see basically every single feature the travelled region provides. We are looking forward to see beautiful landscapes and cities.

Since we are both good friends, we are hopefully going to enjoy the time we spend together as well. But most importantly, we both really want to do something for a good cause, which is why we want to collect money with our trip for charity. You can find more information about this down below!

2 700 km in six countries

Our bike trip consists of two parts: Dennis is going to start by his own on August 2nd in Lisbon and will follow the Portuguese coast up north to Porto. From there he plans to cycle inland to Spain. Via Leon and Burgos he wants to arrive after one week in Guillermo's home town Bilbao to meet up with him.

The two of us will continue together along the Basque coast and cycle to France, where we will spend the majority of our joint trip. Our planned route passes through Bayonne, Bordeaux and Poitiers before we end the second week in Tours.

We want to continue to the capital Paris and go further up north to Lille, which will be our last stop in France before we enter Belgium, where we want to spend a night in Gent. We plan to move on to the Netherlands and have our last stop of the trip in Tilburg. After crossing the German border the trip finishes in Rees, Dennis' home town, on August 23rd after three weeks and around 2 700 km.

Collecting money for charity

Being born in Europe in a free and peaceful environment, we are both aware that we have been privileged in our lives in multiple ways. Therefore we want to try to give something back in order to support people which lives are way tougher than ours. We both want to use this trip to raise attention for the work of Doctors without Borders, who offer help with their projects in conflict zones and regions affected by disease and hunger in 70 countries around the world.

If you enjoy following our trip, please consider donating to Doctors without Borders via the fundraiser campign we've created.
